Latrobe City is one of Australia's major provincial centres. Regional headquarters for significant government and private organisations, education centres, such as Monash University Gippsland, GIPPS TAFE and Gippsland Group Training.
Latrobe City is made up of four major urban centres: Churchill, Moe/Newborough, Morwell and Traralgon, with smaller townships of Boolarra, Glengarry, Toongabbie, Tyers, Traralgon South, Yallourn North and Yinnar.
Centrally located, Latrobe City is less than two hours drive from Melbourne and approximately a one-hour drive to the snowfields of Mt Baw Baw, the Ninety-Mile Beach and Gippsland Lakes region.
The area has become the hospitality and sporting centre of Gippsland, with outstanding sporting facilities for tennis, athletics, swimming, and team sports, leisure centres and outstanding regional tourism attractions.
The Latrobe region is a resource rich area with abundant forest and brown coal resources, water resources and rich agricultural land.
